Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
First hours of the day involve a feedback call with the team where tasks are assigned and any questions from the previous day are asked and answered. Then as an intern an associate or manager would explain the task that you would need to complete and you are shown how to do so. The rest of the day involves completing this task and asking questions along the way.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. Plenty of project involvement and tasks that genuinely contributed to the wider audit process. Senior colleagues also make an effort to check on your progress and provide answers to queries. The level of autonomy is great too as you are given time to work things out alone - something that I think has really contributed to my development

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Plenty. As you work in a team dedicated to a client, you have conversations with associates, senior associates, managers and non-audit personnel there is always someone on hand to answer questions and support you in your work. I was also assigned a buddy who was great. This aspect of the internship was what impressed me the most because despite people having so much work to do of their own, they never fail to offer guidance.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Fantastic. There are people from all different backgrounds and ages so the culture feels very inclusive. Plenty of events too and vouchers to enable you to socialise with colleagues and build your network. One of our tasks was also a voluntary initiative to support a social enterprise, which demonstrated to me how much PwC values work that benefits wider society.

Everything was great. The culture is fantastic, especially as a young person the fact that there is such an initiative to network amongst your peers and develop your technical and soft skills, I feel as though PwC would be a great place to work once I graduate. Recommend wholeheartedly.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
The interview process is hard so do research before you apply. Also, dress smartly for your first few days and always wear some smart clothing, either a shirt or formal trousers to make a good impression. And always ask questions - if you don't understand something ask.
