Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a management information analyst and my role involves completing monthly MI reports to framework authorities. I also carry out framework audits, invoice approvals and data analysis for different verticals in the company.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I find the programme enjoyable as it has allowed me to learn new skills which i can use to help me in my day to day role. The programme has also allowed me to learn about tools which are widely recognised in the industry which only helps my career moving forward.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my Excel and automation skills since participating on the apprenticeship. I have learned how to utilise Power query and Power BI and have began integrating these in to my day to day work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured well however I feel like some of the modules should be taught earlier in the programme so I have more time to spend learning about the tool. For example the Power BI modules should come earlier so I can attempt to use the tool longer knowing I have the support of my PDE for the rest of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive efficient support from my employer as my manager recently completed the same programme I am on now. However, at times I havent been able to commit enough time to my course due to last minute requests from stakeholders and my job being busy.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider as he puts a lot of effort in to our 1-2-1's and offers extra meetings whenever I need help on something.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification has allowed me to improve aspects of my job role which has ultimately saved my team time on spent on the reporting that we do due to the skills I have picked up on the programme - especially in terms of how to automate processes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of extra curricular activities at my work. To name a few, volunteer days, end of quarter social events, team nights out, Christmas parties and company-wide kick off events each year.

Softcat has a big community feel to it and has a genuine care for its' employees. Softcat offers a flexible working environment to suit your circumstances and has plenty of social events to participate in. There's also a lot of in-house promotions and career opportunities.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
The advice I would give is, get involved in everything and anything. Don't be afraid to get stuck into things that you may not even understand as you'll have a lot of support to help you learn. You'll have opportunities to work on things outside of your immediate role and you'll have a say on how you'd like to mould your career.
