Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I have college on on a Monday where we cover various units.
I am then on placement Tuesday to Thursday where I complete electronic work on various aircraft assemblies.
Whilst on placement I gather evidence in the form of job packs, witness testimonies, knowledge questions, etc.
Whilst at college I complete various assignments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy this programme because of the following:
- 4 Day week
- Interesting jobs (in certain places)
- Friendly workforce
- Good pay

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have gathered various skills and knowledge on the manufacture, installation and testing of electrical equipment in various fighter aircraft.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The structure is good but the communication on future steps in your apprenticeship are not overly clear. For example we usually find out the location of our next placement with short notice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive allot of support when needed from all areas of the business.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My skills coach is very good at supporting my evidence collection.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Some of the evidence that needs to be collected is vital to prove that you can complete your role competently, but some of the criteria that needs to be collected is not realistic and can sometimes cause problems.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are no out-of-work activities with college, but there can be with the skilled employees on placement.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe having an apprenticeship at a similar age to me (18) provides one of the best start ups in life. This apprenticeship is far better than others I have heard of.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Research the company behaviours and show them during interviews.
When completing manual/dexterity tests, organise your workspace well and read the instructions thoroughly.
