To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Enjoyed being involved with on-going and new projects. Have a supportive team around me that are happy to give me opportunities professionally and personally.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Developed new software skills, existing English skills in a professional setting. Also, further developed key parts of my accounting and maths knowledge through day to day and professional training.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well spaced and structured - exams split well with formal learning put in place to support growth and development at the right time. Clear goals and training plan objectives. Placement team happy to give you time for exams but also know how to include you in day to day from the start.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Placement is very supportive both by allowing us time for our learning, getting us involved in ways that further and support our learning, and, helping when we are stuck on tasks or problems. Early careers are well structured and set up in such a way that allows for support when required and plenty of opportunities to network with others.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Well structured lessons with good resources. Struggled to follow at points where learning is crammed into 6 days per exam. Revision sessions were helpful but could have been more efficient if split up better. Tutors were clear and helpful when I was stuck.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

With the nature of the role and the way the learning was set out, learning is not very relevant at first with PT being the first exam. However, parts of this topic and the CBE papers have been relevant and bought into the day to day. Future exams will be more job specific and I will be able to benefit from these more.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

After work and lunchtime social clubs including sports and other activities such as games clubs are available but I am yet to get involved. Quite a few networking events have been setup, allowing you to meet contacts and work alongside the wider business.

Why?
Depending on the friend and their view of the world, I believe that BAE Systems offers individuals a career and a supportive role that has allowed me to develop and grow as a person. There are lost of support networks that offer future growth and support.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Prepare by researching the company and make sure that the role aligns with your goals. Do not worry too much if it differs from your original expectation as BAE Systems promotes career development and help you get where you want to be. Be positive
