Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in the Tax team and my role involve working in different areas of Tax such as, compliance, reporting and business support.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme quite a lot as I have a very supportive team around me who are willing to help me learn and develop throughought my course and also as a person. So far I have enjoyed learning the new skills and work that I have been exposed to.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed existing and new software and English skills from my day-to-day activities.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The training plan is well structured and organised and it is very helpful. The exams and other objectives of the apprenticeship is all very well spaced/timed and give me enough time to balance both work and study. My line managers are also very helpful when it comes to giving me time to study for exams instead of pressuring me to do work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive good support from my employer regarding my apprenticeship. That involves people like line managers, colleagues and my apprenticeship skills coach. Early careers are also very helpful in terms of guiding me through my apprenticeship and always willing to help when I need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive good support from my training provider in terms of helping me when I need it. However, I would like there to be abit more support on the preparation for the exams. This means having more videos on lessons rather than just PowerPoints and also maybe have our initial lessons for a particular exam more spread out instead of cramming all the content in just 2 days for example.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

So far the exams I have done are not so related to my actual role, however my upcoming exams are more related i.e. Business and cooperation tax. I think the exams so far have given a little bit content related to my role but it is not at a great level.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are after work clubs available to me, however I have not personally enrolled to these yet. I will look forward to doing so in the near future. However, there are quite a few networking events and I have been to the ones made available to me so far and I think my apprenticeship gives a very good opportunity to me as an apprentice to network and get to know the wider business.

Why?
I would generally recommend BAE Systems to a friend, however that does depend on the friend as some people may not like to be involved in a company who specialise in military and defence.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
See if BAE's vision aligns with your goals and objectives before applying. Also note that BAE is very supportive and help you develop as a person.
