Learning to prepare surfaces ready for the application of coatings to prevent corrosion and also to apply the coatings in accordance with MOD specifications.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt all about the technical side of painting from the preparation of surfaces all the way through to final inspection by QC. I've developed my painting skills to ensure I am achieving the required paint thicknesses to prevent corrosion without leading to coating defects.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It's doesn't seem organised. It relies a bit too heavily on work coming in from the business and when this isn't available we seem to constantly repeat painting the same bits of metal.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive good support to enhance my painting skills and knowledge. I have been briefed on other support that is available but I feel I do not need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
