Managing soft and technical projects within platform nuclear engineering.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the technical projects when they come in but this very placement and role dependant. In my current placement there is a lot more soft projects, which can be fairly boring. A lot feel like admin work rather than actual project delivery.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes developed proficiency in soft skills (communication, people management, leadership, tool-set software), as well as PM based skills such as schedule, cost, risk, stakeholder management

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think the security restrictions put in place by BAE Systems makes it a lot harder for apprentices to meet the apprenticeship standards. I think this also causes a disconnect between the course provider and the company.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

For the most part, in house support is very good, however they could be better clued up on what is required by university
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university recycle training content, and often times it feels like the tutors are unqualified or too inexperienced to deliver the course content. They also don't always seem clued up enough on our security working restrictions or even the course itself
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification provides a decent theoretical understanding, but it doesn't cross over into practise all that often.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
