Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Business and industry analysis in specialist sectors. Supporting with completion of credit processes. Running models to assess the risk and viability of a transaction. Supporting the origination team with end to end tasks to progress a transaction.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the role and the desk job, the programme provided by BPP could be much improved.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Business and financial analysis, commercial lending principles, banking concepts

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Frequent miscommunications and inefficient learning platform
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot of support received from my team and the early careers team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Periodically with progress reviews
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The programme was reduced from previous cohorts. I think it would support my role more if I was given the opportunity to complete the qualification in full. Professionalism and ethics was interesting and important generally in banking but has not helped me with the technical aspects of the role. Commercial Lending was more useful but also generally applicable to financial services and the case study was only partly relevant to the products we use in my team
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Many social activities in the team and wider bank. Employee Led Networks to join

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The Bank is a good place to work, I believe colleagues generally are supported and we try to live our values. The programme is let down by the learning provider, and I think there could be improved training infrastructure in place specifically for apprentices as is the case with graduates
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
The values and behaviours of the Bank are important. We have a growth, learning mentality. Skills can be built on and learnt but the Bank places a lot of value on hiring people who can demonstrate our values and behaviours in their approach to work.
