Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
An RAF Mover’s day-to-day role involves planning and coordinating the movement of personnel and cargo by air and land. They prepare detailed load manifests, ensure all documentation complies with safety and customs regulations, and supervise the loading and unloading of aircraft—often using specialist equipment to balance and secure loads correctly. On the ground, they may marshall aircraft, operate cargo-handling machinery, and conduct safety checks on freight, including dangerous goods. RAF Movers also assist with the movement of military personnel, handling check-ins, documentation, and boarding processes. Their work can take them from major airbases like RAF Brize Norton to deployed locations around the world, often in high-pressure or austere environments. Regular training keeps them sharp and ready to support missions ranging from combat deployments to humanitarian aid.
