Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Day to day role imvolves being responsible for the safe movement of trains within the yard, pulling points and setting routes and shunting trains, including to and from platform on mainline.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My programme was fitting for the job, and was easy to keep up with the workload. We were provided with excellent support to complete the programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt various new skills, particularly those related to driving rules. Also, I have developed existing skills such as communication e.g. radio comms, organisation skills etc.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very organised, we were given regular check ins with our mentor to help us keep on top of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Our employer was supportive of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We were given support and help as required. Regular check ins and contact with our mentor was helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification was very relevant to my role and involved assessment on safety and rules and regulations of the railway required for driving trains.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have a train crew social club which I am part of, which hosts events and meetings.
