Recruitment is a varied role where no to days are the same. Can be interviewing candidates, advertising, marketing and talent attraction meetings. Business meetings with operations teams/stakeholders. Days in trade visiting sites you are recruiting for/horizon positions. Succession meetings with your area managers/stakeholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I loved the learning, not only form a knowledge gain perspective. But also what you learn about yourself. How to build resilience, and be your best self in work- setting healthy boundaries- an apprenticeship alongside a full time job is not easy- but you find your way! :)

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Absolutely! Learned so much about the overall business needs not only in my organisation but in public and not for profit too. I have a better understanding of the people function- the part we play in providing a great employee lifecycle.

I did feel the order of the modules could have been better- some shared theories and learning could have been utilities had certain modules been delivered in a better order.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I am much better at bigger picture thinking. I am a better asset to my operations team. Greater understanding of the people function allows me to add better value to discussions and think strategically.

Yes, I am part of our women’s network steering group. We advocate for women in hospitality to share their experiences in a safe space, celebrate one another and advocate for those women who are looking to progress their careers in a predominately male environment.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marstons?
I would encourage any applicants to ‘come as you are’ we are a pub company and we reflect the communities we proudly serve. At Marstons ‘people make pubs’ We are a company that is ambitious and currently on a very exciting journey over next 5 years with our strategy!
