Overall Rating

3.1 /5

The Overall Rating is the average of all the ratings given in each category. We take those individual ratings and combine them into one final score!

2/5 - Overview of Role
2/5 - Skills Development
3.4/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
Learning curve yes, learn new skills yes, variety in what you do on a day to day basis no. You are taking calls from customers who's card or payments have been blocked and assisting them in either raising a fraud report or unblocking their card if all okay.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
To be quite frank, not that much. We all know banking is an inherently boring industry, at least when it comes to regulations etc. But I don't feel in any way shape or form i perform my day job any better due to the education work on the side.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
Yes communicative skills for sure, not much beyond that as everything else is incredibly repetitive.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There are deadlines set for all modules, so it is well structured. However, the time in which you are supposed to complete the course tends to change and is on a bit of a sliding scale.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The employer cannot change your role, they can only support you in trying to get through the programme. In this case, I do believe NatWest have been great. A lot of that falls on my managers shoulders who I cannot speak highly enough of.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
You can have months where there is no contact from the provider, at times its not been great. But I believe this comes down to the individual performance of the coach you're assigned to, you can have differing experiences in that sense. Generally speaking, I would say it is average.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
There isn't one element of the training I've had so far that has made me think I can perform in my role better. You stand a greater chance of doing so by reading the general communications sent to all staff by NatWest - way more job specific information.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are yes, it's obviously dependent on your personal interests, but NatWest do make an effort in this department. An abundance of events are on offer so I have no negative comments in that regard.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The bank as a whole is a fantastic workplace, incredibly patient and willing to assist if you ask the question. Would I recommend the role and programme as a whole? No. There is not enough variety in what you do to have that greater scope of the financial services industry and ultimately take the next step in a more advanced role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
If you're passionate and can articulate that passion you'll have no issues. Its a great workplace, just make sure you find the role that's right for you and will allow you to grow on your terms.
