Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a Survival Equipment Technician, I maintain survival Equipment in RAF ST Mawgan. The purpose of my section is to help students that will work on aircraft. The kit that I maintain goes on drills that gives them the learning facilities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It was good, it wasn't stressful. The second part was a lot more enjoyable than the first half.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt to maintain kit to a necessary standard. I've developed a sense of leadership and followership.

4/5
It was well organised. All the instructors were experienced and were flexible working around our situations.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There was a lot of support from my employer. Whenever they came down to RAF ST Mawgan, they were always motivating me and others to complete the course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
At first, due to a lack of staff in RAF ST Mawgan. It was very slow to start the training. However having a 2 day course to complete the NPC was very quick and effective.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It makes me more comfortable working on the gear and helping new people learn about the kit.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have sport in the morning occasionally and we occasionally get social activities to improve our team work and cohesion.
