Co-ordinating and overseeing the delivery of building services. Checking all the information needed on designs is available and correct. Liaising with different teams to enable works to take place. Problem solving.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love my role at work. Time passes quickly as there are always different challenges to face and lots to learn. I find the role interesting and fulfilling. Conversely, the education side is very disappointing and not challenging.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my professional skills immensely. How to approach designs, emails, tests to make the most of my learning and ensure high quality work is being delivered.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme with the company is fantastic. Well structured and supported with development sessions for both professional and industry specific skills. The pathway is very clear and relevant, we are always informed of upcoming events.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Lots of support. Whether it is my colleagues, line manager or directors, they always have time for me and assist in answering my queries. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience within the company and I feel confident asking about anything I am unsure of. They encourage me to get involved.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Minimal. They are disorganised, difficult to get a response from and do not act on feedback. The lessons are very limited and do not relate to the assignments. The feedback is minimal which makes it difficult to improve.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It doesn't add much to my role. Majority of our time is spent on construction knowledge and the building services are largely skipped over. There is not much I have taken from the course that I have been able to apply to my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes. We organise and promote a range of activities from sports to wellbeing and charity events. It is a great atmosphere and something the company invests in.

Why?
It has given me a career I enjoy far more than I ever thought I would. The environment is supportive, collaborative and encouraging. They care about delivering good quality work, and safely. There is so much opportunity within the company and they work on very exciting projects. I'm proud to work for them
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
Be yourself! Mace want to know what you're like as a person and an employee. Subject specific knowledge is not so relevant because they can teach you that - provided you are interested, committed and collaborative. Draw on previous experiences to demonstrate how you meet their purpose and values.
