Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
at the moment we are tasked with building the new welding apprentice school so usually we get set jobs such as fabricating bits like material racking or jobs such as painting the floor and cleaning.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
at the moment I don't really enjoy the programme due to us not doing any useful welding and instead being set tasks such as painting the floor and cleaning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have learnt many skills such as painting floors, slight distortion control. I have also learnt hand tools and milling from when we where learning in the apprentice machine school.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
the programme is not very well organised due to lacking much planning and communication of events for apprentices. However it could be much worse.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
no support as in mentors or mental health
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
good support in person due to us actually doing welding at college and being taught theory. However not the best equipment and standards but its better than being on site as it is relevant to us.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
the fact that we have done no substantial welding up to standard is ridiculous for a years progress. and instead being on our hands and knees cleaning and doing work that has nothing to do with welding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
not that I know of currently

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Babcock International Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
good pension, good holiday, very high standard and on paper just a good place to work.
the issue is with this year has gone to waste for all the level 2 and 3 apprentices which is an issue.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock International Group?
ask questions and expect a lot of high standard work as well as taking a lot of initiative
