Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Some of the daily tasks which I undertake is: creating Facebook posts for the Branch, assisting customers with their holiday queries, taking bookings for holidays, and selling foreign exchange.
I have lots of support from my colleagues in Branch, and also my L&D coach who I interact with on Daily Basis.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my apprenticeship programme, as my colleagues and my L&D are very supportive. My training sessions also allow me to meet new apprentices from all over the UK. Also ship visits and educational are available to help grow our knowledge.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt so much since starting at Hays, including all of their system knowledge, procedures to secure a booking, as well as knowledge on destinations and suppliers which we use.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well organised, as the training sessions are planned in on specific dates to fit in with new topics which we are learning in Branch, and also the tasks which we are set alongside.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is lots of support available, including my colleagues in Branch, my L&D coach, and also other areas of the business which work in Head Office are also happy to help with any query.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a progress review around every 6 to 8 weeks from my L&D coach, who visits my Branch where I set targets for my next review and also submit evidence so they can see the progress which I have made. There is also GCSE maths training sessions avalible, for individuals who haven't quite passed their GCSE maths. Also If I have any questions, my L&D coach is just a phone call or teams message away.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification definitely helps me perform better in my role, as my regular training sessions help put my knowledge into practice when back in branch. As apprentices we receive some of the most up to date training, so we can understand the most up to date procedures.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are some additional activities available within the apprenticeship, from Team nights out to ship visits and educational.

Why?
Everyone is very supportive, from Head office to colleages in Branch. They are always looking into new ways to help grow our knowledge of the travel industry, weather this be through supplier online training to ship visits and educationals to gather first hand knowledge of the supplier. Hays Travel are also host regular training sessions to help develop our skills outside the apprenticeship, to help perform to the best of our abilities.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hays Travel?
Keep an open mind, and be pro-active.
