Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role consists of serving customers daily, finding holidays that meet their requirements and emailing these or showing these to customers. Processing documentation to a high standard, and expanding knowledge on destinations and suppliers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme and speaking with different customers to help them find their perfect holiday. I enjoy the tasks and work that we get set as these are interactive, I also find that the people are very friendly on the programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my customer service skills, and listening skills, I have also developed my people skills by being able to communicate more clearly. I have also developed many more skills surrounding my knowledge on systems, travel destinations and suppliers.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very organized as we have a schedule for when we have set specific training days which is very easy to access and view in advance, these are well presented. We are also made aware of any changes by our coach.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer, through monthly reflections on my progress with my Manager, they have been very supportive since I have joined. There is also quick access to tools and resources if needing any support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive lots of support from training providers, they come to visit me in store to see how I am getting on which is helpful in working towards the qualification as we set goals and tasks for the future.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that the qualification will help me perform better in my role by ensuring that I have undertaken all of the correct training, it will give me more confidence and also ensures that I am aware of the standards within the role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many extra curricular activities to get involved in at Hays Travel, we hold local charity events as well as there being opportunities to go on ship visits as well as supplier events.

The apprenticeship has helped me expand many skills, the apprenticeship is clear and supportive, the staff are friendly. The company also has excellent values and many opportunities for career growth.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hays Travel?
I suggest if applying for Hays Travel, to show off your understanding of destinations for different customer types, and to be yourself.
