Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is a an apprentice travel consultant meaning finding the best holiday suitable for various customer types. This role has allowed me to gain a lot of knowledge about the tourism industry as well as gaining more skills when working in customer service. As well as doing weekly training about different destinations, and finding suitable options for different customer types. Having trained staff around me day to day has helped as I have been able to shadow and learn more in a fast amount of time.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I think this apprenticeship has been very helpful for me as it has allowed me to work towards my career path. Doing an apprenticeship has allowed me to see how a full time job is as well as still going to college to learn more about the tourism industry.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills such as how to be professional when working with customers as that is what I do everyday. Also learning more about different destinations via training sessions, and making sure I know how to work different supplier systems.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The apprenticeship is very well organised, we have training once a week, and then in branch for the other days of the week. We also get set activities to complete to help us expand our knowledge.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer. My team at my branch are very supportive and understanding. If I need help I always feel comfortable asking and they will help me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider when it comes to completing my apprenticeship. We always set activities for me to do to make me closer to finishing my apprenticeship. As well as meeting every 6 weeks to check where I am up to and see what I can do to complete it quicker.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification has helped me perform better as I know that I have something to work towards, gaining a Level 3 qualification. This will help me in my future career.

Why?
Since starting my apprenticeship at Hays Travel I have found it to be very organised and set in a way where we could work in a time line. It has increased my knowledge of the tourism industry, as well as allowing me to gain many skills along the way. I will also have a qualification by the end of this apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hays Travel?
Make sure you have some knowledge about the company, and what kind of holidays we offer. Learn the companies values and goals as it could help you out when applying.
