Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Our role involves serving customers and finding them their perfect holiday. We also do admin work on our computers which includes social media etc. We also get to experience a lot of fun trips, supplier nights and great bonus'.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy all aspects of the job as I have met lots of new people and I have also met new friends for life in training and working in the store.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have become so confident in speaking to customers now and feel like I gained a lot of travel knowledge that I didn't have before and that I couldn't gain in any other jobs.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Our training structure is well organised, learning about different types of holidays, suppliers and destinations as well as learning about real life situations.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We have a lot of support in different aspects of the job. For our training we have mentors that help us through-out our course and anything else we have lots of people we can speak to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We receive a lot of support from our training providers and they are always there to help us when needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Our training helps me a lot when I go back to the shop because I then know that I can confidently give customers recommendations for places if they're not sure as well as knowing what suppliers to use.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have a lot supplier events that we can go to as well as trips we can go on to learn more about destinations or suppliers which we can do as a team.

I would recommend Hays Travel to a friend because it is a lovely place to work. All my colleagues have made me feel so welcome since I started working here and there is unlimited opportunities within the job itself to grow and learn.

If you're applying for an apprenticeship at Hays Travel, I'd say show that you're eager to learn and passionate about helping customers. Be yourself in the interview and make sure you’ve done some research about the company—it shows you’re serious and interested in the role.
