Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Meeting customers and searching for holidays for them, booking holidays and completing the relevant admin until they travel. Selling foreign currency and completing tasks such as banking in the bureau de change. Keeping the branch tidy and creating offers for social media and the windows.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The learning in the training room was fun and making new friends with the other apprentices. I was also given great opportunities such as attending cruise ship visits and industry events. Also being in the branch and learning lots of new knowledge and skills has been fun, and has helped develop my passion for travel. The apprentice coursework was fairly difficult to complete on time because of my commitments to the branch and hitting targets, and did become very stressful when my final deadlines approached and there was still outstanding coursework to be completed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My customer service skills have really developed, especially my confidence from talking to different types of people each day. My communication has also improved as I have to use emails, phone calls and face to face conversations to communicate. Time management is also crucial in the role as in busy times, you need to learn to prioritise tasks and ensure they are completed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is a training schedule which tells us what we would be learning about for the programme. We are set regular tasks to complete for our apprenticeship to keep our knowledge and coursework up to date. Overall the programme was very well structured and organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is a lot of support available from various sources, so no matter what I needed to talk about I knew there was someone there to reach out to. We have regular reviews with our trainer to make sure we stay on track and set out the relevant means to put us back on track.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We have regular reviews with our apprenticeship trainer who supports us to do the best we can in our apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification and the learning that resulted from it helped me to learn all the necessary information I needed to perform my role, and not only taught me various destinations and products, but also helped me to bring out my skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of opportunities to attend travel industry events to stay up to date on suppliers and industry trends. We also are given opportunities to visit cruise ships or airports to help us sell these better to customers. We have team night outs which helps us to have some fun outside the work environment.
