Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I create electrical looms, install cables into aircraft, test electrical systems and fix issues that arise.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have very much enjoyed the apprenticeship. Everyone i have come across is very supportive.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt electrical systems and then progressed onto the Level 4 HNC college, where I have expanded this knowledge further.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Due to a fair few staff change overs with upper management on the college and apprenticeship side of the business, this has lead to some disruption and confusion. These aren't big issues, but have still caused problems.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Support has been great through all levels of the business.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support has been great, but as stated earlier, due to some staff change overs this has caused some issues.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
this is more of an external issues to BAE Systems, but there is too much of a focus repeating written safety training and a lack of actual practical knowledge. But again this is more of a City and Guilds issues, rather than BAE Systems.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are a few opportunities if you can find them. With BAE Systems you get out what you put in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The working environment is extremely supportive, they want the best out of you. It is also a career for life, not just for Christmas. Then once qualified the wages are very good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Keep trying, you may not get in first time as there is a lot of competition, but go away, get experience in that area you want to be in, and try again. You wont regret it once you're in.
