Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is means I have training to complete and notes/activities to hand in for proof of my apprenticeship work. I also work alongside colleagues while in store. I am in a sales environment and have to be able to have sales knowledge and product knowledge (this was all taught to me while doing my training)
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the fact I was able to leave school at 16 and come straight into this job. Travel was one of the only things I was interested in so my apprenticeship with Hays has been one of the best opportunities. I enjoy learning new things and being in the work environment.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have developed confidence, working with others and my knowledge on new places around the world. I have also gained skills such as leading in discussions with colleagues and how to take responsibility to go and do things on my own.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is well structured in having my training schedule and knowing what days I am doing what. I know when I have to be on training and what times, we also get sent out work to complete. We are given notice on when things need to be done and how we can complete them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I know if I am ever stuck my there is always people willing to help. I know both my trainers are just a message or a phone call away and willing to give me the support I need. Also my manager is always checking up on me making sure I know what do to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have progress reviews between every 4-6 weeks to check up on how I am getting on with apprenticeship work. This is either on teams or face to face. I set new goals/targets with my trainer and work towards them before my next review.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have the understanding of my job role to perform my daily work tasks. This may be serving customers or helping customers find the best place that suits them through listening to their needs and wants. I am responsible for my own customers and to help them. Some days I may also be working on the social media side of work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there is extra training every week if we feel we need this. We also focus on a new country each month to try and get sales for. There are various events either online or face to face that can be attended.

Would you recommend Hays Travel to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because personally I love travel so this is something that has helped me further my career and help me get started in the travel industry. Looking back I am glad I grabbed this opportunity and was able to do something that interested me instead of being a school as this is something I never really liked.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hays Travel?
Be yourself, you don't have to know lots about travel before starting, just the basics. Have an interest in travel. Be passionate.
