Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a commercial manager, I manage numerous work packages. Day to day activities include, contract administration, financial reporting and maintaining client relationships.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much. The framework is very easy to understand / follow and Mace are excellent at providing extra curricular activities outside of the workplace which broaden your understanding of the construction industry as well as general business functions, motivation, and self - development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt various commercial skills which are used to assess payments, and primarily my awareness has developed greatly due to the volume of items that need to be assessed when certifying payments from the subcontractors.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well, there are clear expectations set out in different years and Mace provide the pathway on how you are to achieve those goals.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
As much as I need / request.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
If you ask for specific support, then you will most likely get what you need.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Well. The modules I have learnt have, so far, been applicable in the workplace and my day to day job. Depends what modules you learn first and whether they entail your job role or not.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are various events in the Mace apprentice team that you can get involved in every year, some are mandatory training sessions which take place in a city venue, others are optional events which may be in head office or online.

Would you recommend Mace to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Organisation is easy to understand, clear career pathways are set out which helps you progress as a professional.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
Learn the business before you apply / interview. What jobs have Mace previously built? Where are they looking to expand / bid to next? And show an interest in wanting to be a part of future legacy (net zero carbon, sustainable world)
