Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I did the NVQ level 3 train driver apprenticeship. I am now a driver and I drive passenger services every day.
The apprenticeship was very supportive and educational and the apprenticeship team are great.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the responsibility of driving a train safely and interacting with customers and staff on a daily basis.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I now have a grade C GCSE equivalent in IT and have developed teamwork skills as well as lone working and decision making skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

the apprenticeship was very well structured and the team were supportive every step of the way no matter the type of support required.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
support is readily available should it be needed on a professional or personal basis. All of the management and apprenticeship and teaching teams are approachable.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
lots of support in different ways such as confidence building and one to one teaching if required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Having a level 3 train driver qualification gives a person the confidence that they are capable of carrying out their new role to the best of their ability knowing that they have had the best training and support available to them.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

yes, there are summer days out and Christmas parties. Some of the team memebers meet socially out of work too.
