Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a daily basis I am undergoing exercises such as measuring using digital software, creating cost analysis, creating and updating valuations, cost reporting and any other work that involves costs related to the relevant project I am working on.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
As my apprenticeship means I go on campus to university one day a week, then work the other four days. It gives a good balance to my week and I am happy with the amount of workload I currently receive as it challenges me to strive and develop my skills. However, the lecturers at my university can be difficult to understand due to factors such as language barriers.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes definitely, I have learnt to how to present myself in a professional environment, learnt skills essential to my job such as being able to use Excel competently, use digital measurement software (CostX), and developed more general skills since starting my apprenticeship such as time management and public speaking.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think that my programme is well structured both at Mace and the University of Salford. As I am always working on tasks relevant to my role, working with seniors who can assist/ share any knowledge when delegating work to me. Whilst at university, we definitely learn about quantity surveying and other skills needed for the job, but again sometimes it is challenging to understand the lecturers as english isn't their first language.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Daily, me and my line manager (who is a senior quantity surveyor) talk daily making sure I have work to do, and the work I have I am comfortable with and any questions I have will be answered.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Plenty, if needed I could always ask, email or get in contact with my lecturers or the support team at my university. The university runs workshops that I am able to attend that helps resolve any queries and guides individuals on the end point assessment (EPA).
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes many, there is an office schedule where socials, volunteering opportunities and many other activities get posted that I am able to get involved in
