Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I enjoy my role, which consists of preparation of individual and trust tax returns, capital gains tax returns, digital disclosures, inheritance tax returns for trusts. Correspondence with colleagues with work delegations and queries. Correspondence with clients and HMRC.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Overall I enjoyed the programme as I enjoyed seeing what I was learning and how this applied to the real world and looked forward to coming to work. However, the combination of keeping up to date with the training log and balancing the apprenticeship side of things was challenging.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Work and study has worked hand in hand to help reinforce tax knowledge. I have also gained confidence, communication and organisation skills.

Work offer study days, allocated time to complete apprenticeship tasks, managers will join meetings with training provider and colleagues are more than happy to help on queries regarding the apprenticeship or study questions.

Training provider study material was very good with access to tutors on any queries.

There are Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours which we are required to demonstrate as part of the apprenticeship. There are also tuition courses, questions and mock exams to complete which helps consolidate understandings and identifies any areas that need to be focused on.
