Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
due to security I am hesitant to answer this. I am a mechanical engineer working on BAE Systems Submarines. there are a variety of paths one can take in this apprenticeship, and there is something for everyone
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am enjoying my programme a lot. the people i work with are wonderful, and I don't find myself feeling overly stressed. i have things to do, but im never overly pressured and that leads to a very pleasant working environment

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Ive been encouraged to learn VBA for excel, MATLAB, and a variety of other more specific software to do my day to day job role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
reasonably. its not like everything is done according to a structure, and in a way that is a positive. if something isn't quite right, there will be a team that will do everything they can to ensure that whatever is bothering you is resolved.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I personally don't find myself needing any learning support, but if i were to then I know where to find it and i know what i can get support for. financially there are a variety of support structures that BAE provide which I use and make the most of.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
plenty. if you are finding it tricky there are extra sessions and resources that can be used to support people finding it tricky.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
there are ways in which i have seen the qualification impact my job role. i wont define them specifically, however the modules are definitely relevant to everyday job activities.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
yes, i have been to a lot of them and have met many nice people. there is a group organised by the apprentices that hold events in local venues.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
i dont find myself thinking "i wish i was at that company" when i talk to people i know in other apprenticeships. financially BAE has put me in a great position, and as far as apprenticeships go if i were to choose again id do nothing differently.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
please read and take on board the core values. a quick google search can find them pretty easily. I cannot stress enough how important they are to reference in interviews/cover letters.
