In my current placement I am responsible for information management. This requires working cross-functionally between teams to co-ordinate the exchange of information to overseas partners, enabling the production of infrastructure functional requirements for a shipyard currently in its design stage. I also assist in the production of these requirements through the gathering of information, requiring communication with SMEs across the business.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
There has been a noticeable improvement in my communication skills, both within my placement and at university. I am now confident in presenting information to individuals in senior management roles. My academic writing abilities have also improved due to the work I am required to produce for university. Other skills I have developed include teamwork & collaboration

I believe the programme is very well organised. Within my placement, I am always provided with the information I need to carry out my role effectively. More generally, the early careers team within BAES also provide me with all the necessary information required to meet expectations.

5/5
I believe BAES is a good employer which fosters a supportive environment in which 'no question is a silly question'. I feel able to communicate openly about any issues I may be having (both inside and outside of work), and I am provided with the support I require.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive above adequate support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Training towards my qualification provides me with the knowledge I need to carry out my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
I am not currently involved in any extra-curriculars, however, I know of their existence. I have attended professional networking events.
