Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Community engagement. Liaising with community, schools, police and partner agencies. Walking out on the beat. Supporting Police colleagues with arrest and crime enquires.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Good balance of classroom and on the job. The classroom element is front loaded meaning you can concentrate on doing your job well.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained competency in my written english. As an older apprentice I felt I was very rusty having not needed to write much in my previous jobs. Also gained confidence speaking to a broad and diverse cross section of the public. Knowledge in policing powers and policies

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I was one of the first to go through the program. There was no teething problems and felt seamless. Felt supported all the way through
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The apprenticeship team have been excellent and expectations are set when out ' on the job' to make sure time is given to complete any apprenticeship work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They were there throughout the whole processes and I felt like they were cheering me on.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The classroom training was a great basis of what I would be doing every day In fact went above and beyond so that I would have a good understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Northumbria police has a very active sports and social club with many different sports and social clubs. There is also networking groups around shared characteristics such as womens and lgbta

I love the variety in my role. I feel supported with anything I want to do.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Northumbria Police?
You dont need to want to be a police officer. So many roles that are different and support the whole thing. You can be any age and come from any background.
