Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis, I carry out tasks such as communicating with clients, analysing client data, onboarding clients, drafting contracts for engagements, planning the pricing and billing for engagements, and I work under multiple managers and with a variety of team members on these wider projects.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme for a variety of reasons, for example I find both my day-to-day job and the learning we do outside of this very interesting, I have found colleagues that I enjoy working with as well as fellow apprentices who I can study with, and I think the opportunities the job offers are great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed skills in my presentations where I have had to present to groups of peers and seniors for varied tasks, I have developed my skills in Excel to be able to effectively perform tasks in spreadsheets using a variety of formulas, and I have developed my communication skills to be able my communication style to a variety of situations, both in speech and over emails.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme sets out clear development milestones with goals being set, exams being structured throughout the year, a variety of learning courses in place each month and yearly reviews on progress being done, but at the same time the day-to-day job experience isn't dictated by the programme in any way, which is something I feel works well as it allows for a more natural feeling experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive support both in my day-to-day job from both team members and managers, and I receive support in the studying aspect with days of leave for exams and college courses as well as the structured sessions for learning about different aspects of tax, some of which are directly applicable to my job.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
They provide us with college courses for some of our exams and resources too, both of which tend to be very helpful from my current experience, however this does not apply for all of them (for example, the course preceding our upcoming exam was fully self-taught with no input from the provider).
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel that it allows me to be more confident in my role as I feel more qualified to do it, as well as some exams giving skills that can be directly applied into my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are sports teams across EY and social activities within our team, as well as fundraising activities around the office which I have been involved in so far. These social events tend to centre around specific times (e.g. Christmas) from what I've seen up until now.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think EY is an exceptional place to work which can provide something for every kind of person, and the experience on a day to day while working with your colleagues at EY is enjoyable for the vast majority of times. There are many opportunities available for all, and you can get involved in the extracurricular side as much or as little as you'd like to, making the experience unique for all.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
I think that just being myself while in the assessment centre and interviews was beneficial, and I think acting as someone you really aren't in these situations will only be a hindrance. If you are successful in receiving an offer, I think that continuing this is extremely important, as you will be able to form more meaningful relationships with coworkers as well as finding a role that suits you.
