Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role is to carry out electrical maintenance on site, testing and installing machinery and electrical instillation
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The job side of my apprenticeship was very enjoyable working with various different teams in which all my journey people were great. However the Apprentice Skills Coaches who are the ones who observe our progress within BAE have been very poor.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt all sorts of new skills to do with my trade from testing electrical appliances to how to correctly install electrical equipment and systems.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
The programme is very very poorly organised. I started my apprenticeship in 2021 and only found out what the actual qualification i would be working towards was in 2025. The clarity from the programme overseers has been extremely poor, as i was meant to finish March 31 2025 and still don't know to this date when my end exams and interviews are through poor lack of organisation.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
The journey people i have worked with throughout my apprenticeship have been great. However the people who are supposed to track my progress along the way have been extremely poor.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Slim to None.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I can't properly answer the question as my qualification only became clear to me withing the final two months of my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Not that i know of.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
No
Why?
My personal experience with the qualification side has been very poor and would recommend people did their apprenticeship outside of this company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Don't apply.
