Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring tools and responding to any alerts as well as supporting with any queries from employees. Usually some time will be spent working on up-skilling using sites like TryHackMe or the training provided by our tools.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
10/10! The opportunities I've had from the programme are excellent, and certainly a lot better than expected. I've been able to work with some amazing people, go to great events, travel to loads of different places, and contribute to work that really benefits the company.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Lots! I've been able to learn new skills through the daily tasks given as well as having the opportunity to apply the previous skills I've learnt to real world situations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well structured - we spent the first year doing four three-month placements within Information Management and, as of second year, we can choose some to spend longer in. This is a really useful way of getting an idea of the areas we'd like to specialise in, and then the longer placements in that area allows for more involvement and the ability to really get stuck in.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
All the support we could need - there are always people around who are willing to help with any queries or questions we have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support is there if we need it - module leads are typically really quick to respond which is great when we need help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The soft skills gained from the training provider is definitely helpful within my role, e.g. creating and delivering presentations, analysing problems, and speaking to a range of different people. The technical skills and knowledge however, does not contribute to my role as much.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are loads of extra-curricular activities at work! The Outreach programme allows apprentices/grads to visit schools and talk to students about career paths which is a great experience. We also have a lot of sports and social clubs that you can get involved with.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend MBDA to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Every team I have worked in so far have been super friendly and supportive. You get treated like a proper employee and not "just an apprentice" so we're able to properly get stuck in from the beginning.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MBDA?
Sounds cliche, but always be polite, kind, and be yourself in your interviews - employers won't want to hire someone they don't want to work with!
