Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

i am an electrical/mechanical technical apprentice and i usually carry out maintenance checks on fire alarms, emergency lights
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i enjoy the program for the fact there is a wonderful team of engineers, managers who are always looking to help out in any way possible whether your stuck on how to do something or you just have a general question, however there is a lack of varied technical work and you'll find most days look the same

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

learned how to properlyt test a fire alarm to make sure all the call points work and that the fire alarm battery is sufficient, also learned how to take apart, isolate and re install emergency lights

How well organised/structured is your programme?

the program is well organised in the fact pay always comes in on time or sometimes even a day early, all passes and access to buildings are ready for the employee joining, all uniform is also ready, the workload is structured in the beginning so that you can find your way arounf all the sites and get familiar with them before your put to working by yourself
How much support do you receive from your employer?

managers and other engineers are always looking to hep whether is a question you have or if your struggling to complete all your jobs by the deadline there is always someone to go to for support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

managers are always asking questions on what they need to do in the workplace to better help you work towards your qualification and acheive the highest grades possible
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

qualification gives the in depth and the theory behind the work you complete on a day to day basis in work anf helps you better understand why you are doing the job and how it will work and improve the old way it was being done
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there is always networking events for apprentices around the contract and gives a chance to meet the people higher in the company and what they do and also meet other apprentices around the business
