Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a designer, in college I have lessons including electrical principles, mechanical principles, project, health and safety, drawing and design, CAD, maths, materials which all help to provide me with the skills I need to progress through my career in the future as well as the knowledge.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying my programme, I feel that I am learning a lot and gaining knowledge as I am progressing through my career as well as many opportunities to potentially take up in the future.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many skills, especially on Outward Bound completing various different activities, this includes my confidence, resilience, motivation, integrity, communication, teamwork. I can then take these into the workplace to build on these skills even more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well organised and structured because whenever we are onsite there is always something for us to be doing and any activities or presentations from people around the business are very interesting to listen to.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I haven't required any support from my employer yet but I knew that if i ever do need support i know who and where to find it from and I know that it would be very useful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive lots of support from my training provider, if I ever have an issue with something, it will always get resolved and sorted out and I know where I would get this support from.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification helps me perform better in my role because it allows me to use the skills I need to progress through my career to become better at what I am doing, it has allowed me to apply for my HNC.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are many activities that you are able to get involved in as you progress further into your career. We can become a STEM ambassador at some point, college council and many more.

Why?
BAE is one of the biggest companies which is local. There are various different opportunities that you can take up to help you further down your career, such as working abroad which I think is one of them best opportunities you can take up.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Ask as many questions as you can to anyone. Have an open mind and take part in anything you are told to complete as in the end you will really enjoy it.
