Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On my day to day I am I undertake audits, so working with clients in order to get my work done, which is great experience. Internally I interact with my line manager, audit managers depending on the job, audit juniors undertaking the work with myself and the responsible individual where applicable. Externally, I interact with clients where that's by email or over the phone or when at the client site in person. My responsibilities are to be the audit senior and to complete the audit file ready for review.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme on a day to day. Being able to apply the study which I am undertaking to the workplace allows for me to progress my knowledge and understanding of day to day tasks. In having the freedom and implied responsibility to undertake the work allows for me to enjoy the autonomy provided at work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

New skills I've learnt is being able to understand how best to work with people depending on who they are. So really being able to understand how to translate a question to an individual. Other skills such as developing my ability to work in a team and cohesion with my colleagues in order to work towards a timeframe have also been major skills I've learnt.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well organised/structured both in the workplace by my tuition provider. The firm works alongside the tuition provider to undertake the study. My day to day work is structured where I am given set clients to work on and any issues report in to the relevant manager.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great deal of support from my employer. Whether that be for my studying whereby they assist me with providing time off work and support with liaising with the tuition provider. In addition, my line manager provides me with support on a day to day going to any queries regarding my work and theory.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a large amount of support from my training provider when working towards my qualification, this is by being provided with one to one sessions with my progress reviewer, in class and virtual learning where required and also provided with support outside of the classroom learning with videos to go back to and questions for question practice.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification helps me massively to perform better in my day to day role with my employer. This is as I'm learning my relevant theory behind the work I'm doing that further allows me to understand why we do some of the work at which we undertake in our job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are large amounts of social activities to do with your work, whether it be with your team colleagues that you work closely with on a day to day or with your wider office or as a collective firm. There is also networking events held that give opportunities for all.

Why?
Old Mill allow for you to gain a large variety of experience in which ever sector you desire, but also support with your studying side of your career as an apprentice. The firm itself offers loads of options after studying, with career progression paths for all people to ensure that their is a path suitable for each individual.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Old Mill?
I would suggest to show you have an interest in the company and a desire to work there. The firm is a very hard working, but also extremely enjoyable and rewarding company to work for where opportunities come to those who work hard for them. Be yourself and enjoy working for the firm.
