Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

In my role as a PCSO, the main role was community engagement. This ranged from gathering intelligence to providing community reassurance after events. It also included conflict management as well as attending schools ect educating young people
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I completed this programme in 2023 and really enjoyed it from start to finish. The content delivered in training school really prepared me for the physical side of the course. It was delivered professionally with the leaders being very engaging. I really loved my time

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have certainly learned to be understanding of wider backgrounds and how this impacts people. I have continued to develop my communication skills and work as a team efficiently

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme was very well structured. The training structure was presented at the start so we were aware of what was coming ahead of us . We had allocated time to self study and put together our EPA which i found beneficial
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I received lots of support throughout my time. If i felt stressed they would have a chat and help me balance my work and apprenticeship tasking. They provided lots of materials to support me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It allowed me to knowledgeable of the policing background as I was new to this career pathway. It gave me something to work towards

Yes we have a range of sports teams as well as Northumbria Police Sports and Social

Why?
It is a great career-You change lives on a daily basis and sometimes don't realise the impact you make on others. The support is excellent and you make friends for life
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Northumbria Police?
Be Confident , Dont change yourself for others, Be honest.
Most importantly-Speak up if you are struggling mentally as you will drown otherwise
