Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Interacting with Project Managers, the project team and the client to update the schedule. Dealing with up to 130 projects at any one time in order to act as the go between for all involved with the project. I spend most of my day updating the project schedule either through emails received for teams calls and messages with information pertinent to the project. I deal with 15 different PM's.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It is a good learning environment with the lectures and a good mixture of face to face and online sessions to accommodate the fact that we all live all over the country not just in London. I enjoy my uni days.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my microsoft skills from excel to word. I have learnt how to work in Microsoft Project and Premavera P6 to develop and maintain schedules and well as learning how to read client and sub contractor schedules that are sent to us and imputing them as needed. I have also improved upon my communication skills both internally and externally as well understanding when to push for an answer and when to accept for the time being that the evasive answer is best.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The Structure works well, however the organisation and communication is slow and lacking. Often coming in too late to action before a uni day. The one to one catch ups with my Link Tutor are really helpful as they allow me to bring up anything I feel is needed and feel comfortable to do so.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I receive support in my link tutor meetings and support when I need help reviewing an assignment, however the support often comes late and leaves me rushing around. Otherwise I am left to my own devices for all working hours with support and check ins coming when I request them not before.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The standard support during lectures and an assessment support session for each report I need to write otherwise it is difficult to get an answer out of them unless I email my link tutor in which case the response is fast and helpful. If I email a tutor the response is slower and often ambiguous in answer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have gained more confidence in what I am saying to everyone through the support of my qualification and it has helped to start to implement other initiatives within the workplace to better the processes which are worked with and to help elevate the way I work as well. I often refer back to notes I made during lectures.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are limited options both at work and at University. However the number at uni has risen since professional development days have been introduced to allow us to network. There are no sports teams to get involved with for either, however the social aspect of work is there as it isn't uncommon to go for a meal or have a skittles night as a department. The interaction outside of your own department is limited. There is little to no social interaction with uni as we only see each other once a month if that.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Bridges Electrical Engineers to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a happy place to work with lovely people and I enjoy going to work as I know even if the day is hard I will laugh at some point with my co workers.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bridges Electrical Engineers?
Like most companies there are always vacancies and they are always looking for new people for new roles that you can help tailor depending on your needs, they are a flexible and accommodating company. So why not.
