build technician apprentice Review

I am an build technician apprentice, my job involves carrying out build related duties contributing towards the current F1 power-units and also future development power-units at HPP.

well organized, there is the odd delay with parts being delivered to build and sometimes a bit of confusion on the priority of builds as this can change based on tests being run by engineering.

I always have support from my colleagues and managers as and when it is required. I have also received good support in terms of the time given to complete college work alongside my daily duties.

The training provider (Loughborough college) is good however there was quite a few mix ups in terms of the course we where on and it meant we had to go back and complete an additional unit, i would say the organization of the college needs to be improved.

It helps to some extent however the training provider covers basic engineering knowledge, most of my job role is build related and specific to an F1 power unit so its not always a direct correlation but the principles apply.

The experience you gain within a high performance industry such as formula one and the technical ability you pick up is 2nd to none, the pay you receive even as an apprentice is very good and the extra perc's of the job such as the company car scheme, the pension amount and the bonus schemes are very good compared to other companies.
