Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in the Public Health team focusing on tobacco control, NHS Health Checks and other topics. A mix of data analysis, strategy development and monitoring of commissioned services.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It was a good programme, but some of the course work was repetitive, the best parts were workshops.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I've learnt a number of new skills within Excel which has improved my data analysis skills as well as how to use Power BI to create dashboards and presentations for various partners including senior leadership.

It was well organised and structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We received a great deal of support from my manager and Public Health team as well as from the wider council who have fully engaged and supported the apprenticeship programme,
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They provided a great deal of support, with workshops, tutor sessions and the availability of 121 calls if you were struggling. They also provided a community of practice zone on the training platform so that you could engage with other apprentices and access training videos etc.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has improved my ability to manage several programmes within my portfolio area and improving efficiency when undertaking data projects. It has also improved my presentation skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are several groups within the Council which you can join if you have an interest as well as some programmed all Council events and team challenges, such as steps challenges and volunteering.

It is a great company to work for with a focus on staff wellbeing and bring your whole self to work. The senior leadership team are approachable and focused on creating a healthy, productive working environment. The flexibility of working hours and location is good.
