Tax trainee Review

I mostly do tax computations, I do initial preparation and then updates once they are reviewed. I also tag signed accounts so they can be understood by the HMRC software. I will also assist tax managers with various other jobs like professional clearance or HMRC calls.

Cooper Parry and Kaplan seem to have good communication and I appreciate the flexibility granted with studying. It seems to be well organised and there lots of support and information for any questions.

My employer is very supportive, my line manager will listen if I have any concerns and will help as best as they can. If I am feeling overwhelmed they are able to move work around that will suit both me and the team. They care about my opinion and encourage feedback both ways.

Kaplan is also very supportive. There are many resources available whilst studying including the ability to call a tutor to go through any tricky areas. The tutors reassure us that they are always happy to answer and questions both during and after college.

Several of the exams I have completed are not directly relevant to my job, however, the information I have learnt is still related and helps me understand the bigger picture and background information for my work. It gives me confidence with the work I do which helps me perform better in my role.

I think it is a great company, very inclusive and clearly cares about its employees. It prioritises welfare which ultimately results in higher productivity. The office is a fun space to work but the flexibility is also great. I can work from home whenever and there is also an open holiday policy. I am also proud that it is a certified B-corp company.
