Intern Review

The work given on a day-to-day basis covered a wide variety of topics within each seat, including legal research, drafting memos, and conducting due diligence.
There were organised speakers throughout the entirety of the programme, which lasts for three weeks. The topics they covered were providing insight into the firm globally, as well as within specific sectors and practice areas.

I was extremely interested in learning about the opportunities available within the business that cover all my interests, from practice areas, to the sectors, to the global locations of the firm.

I developed skills of collaboration and negotiation, particularly during the various group exercises that I took part in, which allowed me to get an insight into the way teams across the firm work together.
I have also improved my time management skills regarding the legal research I completed during the programme, having to prioritise relevant information to deliver concisely in a limited time period.

DLA Piper has an extremely collaborative and friendly culture. Everyone I approached, regardless of their position in the firm, was willing to talk and discuss ideas.
There was also a large emphasis on Diversity and Inclusion within the firm, which was evident in the culture in the office.

I enjoyed the internship tremendously, and have nothing but positive experiences from it so far.
The teams that I worked with were encouraging and provided me with engaging tasks to complete, and the company culture was friendly and open.
The internship exceeded all expectations.
