I work as a corporate assistant within the POB Audit Team at Mazars LLP. As a junior auditor, my day-to-day involves communicating with clients to gather evidence and understand their accounting processes, performing audit analysis across various divisions, and supporting job managers in the audit process.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

So far, I am thoroughly enjoying the programme. I think that, although day-to-day tasks can become somewhat repetitive, I am still learning something new every day. I also find that there is a good balance between job fulfilment and manageable hours, meaning I can enjoy my life both on and off the job. However, during busy season, the hours can get long, but it's all part of the experience.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've picked up a lot of new technical skills, especially with Excel, and developed a solid understanding of accounting terminology and processes. One of the most important skills for an auditor is professional scepticism, which I've been honing as well.

The programme is well-organized with a clear pathway. Regular goals and reviews help me reflect on my progress, understand what I've done well, and identify areas for improvement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Mazars provides great support. My line manager is responsive to my queries, and the wider team is helpful with tips. The culture is fantastic, with many diversity networks to get involved with, and I feel well-supported by the firm.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

BPP has been excellent in training me for my exams. They offer a wide array of study materials and good support for any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The skills and knowledge I've gained from my accounting and audit exams have been really helpful in my role. I believe the professional level exams will further enhance my abilities as an auditor.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am involved in office committees and wider company diversity networks, which is great for joining in and helping plan activities to educate and make change. We also have regular social events like bowling, escape rooms, bingo, and boxing events, which are fantastic for networking.

Why?
I would definitely recommend Mazars to a friend. It's a fantastic firm for young graduates, offering strong support for early career development. The team culture is great, and I genuinely enjoy coming to work. There are few downsides to the job and firm overall. I would especially recommend Forvis Mazars if you are a school leaver, there is so much opportunity for school leavers.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Forvis Mazars?
Make sure you choose the programme which most suits your interests and abilities. Mazars have a large audit department but also have teams in consulting, tax, and more, so pick the programme you think you will enjoy the most. Also make sure to research the firm and its values and role in the market comprehensively.
