Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I review applications from end to end including screening CVs, interviews, assessing candidates and onboarding them into the business. The final stage is our assessment days, so I take part in these. I also run projects to improve our process and focus on iterating our process to get the best out of it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I loved the course and feel like it added a lot of variety to my role. I brought a lot of content we learnt at uni back to the team I was in at the time which meant I ran training sessions to upskill current staff. I also took part in projects which added a lot of variety to my role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
One skill I did not have going into this role is my facilitation skill. This is something I have had to focus on to improve as it is a key part of my role, including facilitating interviews and assessment days. I've also had to improve my communication and stakeholder management skills, through networking and developing relationships with stakeholders around the business.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There was good structure, with good levels of time to commit to developing the projects I was involved in. There content from the university was well delivered and I felt like I could pull on the leaders and give feedback to the course leaders when things were not going so well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The support from my employer was great. I had a dedicated mentor who could support me and put me in contact with relevant people around the business. We would get study days we could use to complete assignment work when needed. There was also good time in the work to complete what we needed to complete.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We had a dedicated mentor through the uni too, with regular check ins between me, the uni, my line manager and my mentor to check my progress. They gave good levels of support to us when needed and would point us in the right direction of further support if they couldn't help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It allowed me to perform very well at the time, projects was not something I had done in the past so completing these projects massively improved my knowledge in this area. Now I have finished, it helps a lot and the soft skills I have learnt through the course are very important too.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some but not as many as I would like. Its probably the area we are most lacking. There were in-team events and we had a social budget. We could also do this as an apprentice team but this was quite sporadic when I was an apprentice due to us being split across numerous sites.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend First Response Finance Limited to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think its a great, supportive company to work for. There is plenty of opportunity for development and growth with in the organisation if you want it. The company culture is great and it is really supportive in that sense too, line managers are all really understanding of your individual circumstances too which is a breath of fresh air.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to First Response Finance Limited?
The process to apply is difficult but its worth putting yourself through it for the support that is available and the culture in which we operate in. Its important to be yourself through the process and use the process to understand if you yourself can see yourself working within the organisation.
