Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Preparation of micro-small company accounts from accounting software or bank statements.
Audit of small to large companies, focussed on profit and loss testing, including inspection of documents and test of controls.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Management reasonable and accommodatory, although budget and time pressure often felt.
Workload a mixture of interesting, average and tedious work.
Not too much admin.
Usually opportunities to learn every day.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt double entry accounting, how to evaluate controls, how to inspect source documentation, financial reporting standards, reconciliation methods.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Study periods interspersed with on the job work and training. Fairly clear learning pathway, though flexible enough to accommodate changes. Work is provided of increasingly complex difficulty.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Helpful training fairly frequent. Any questions are usually answered. Feedback not always provided, but is fairly consistently.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They provide lectures where they teach the content, as well as revision days to consolidate learning. Direction is given around how to revise content.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Very well for some modules, others less relevant. This largely due to specification rather than training provider. Where applicable to my work, it helps with making judgements about what work needs to be done and how to do it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Yes. We have fundraising hikes and occassional informal events like leaving drinks or sports sessions, as well as the Christmas party.
