Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a semi senior accountant I get involved in various accounts jobs for different entities. I also complete tax returns whether this is corporate self assessment or the self assessment of individuals. Having a variety means no day is the same whether I could be completing a VAT return or doing regular bookkeping to allow clients to have up to date figures fo rhteir business.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy coming into the office and leaving the office with a feeling of accomplishment. Everyday has a new challenge to face and leaving having completed these tasks never gets boring. Working with the team helps me to learn even more than just what you learn from the textbooks.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have definitely developed my existing skills from working within the industry for so long but I have also learnt a lot of new skills during my apprenticeship. Getting to put the skills you learn through your apprenticeship into action with real like cases is extremely beneficial as it ensures you have a great understanding of what you are learning.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My employer ensures I get the correct balance of work experience and study time. They also always provide me with support when I voice any concerns with my study, this includes providing me with physical situations that will help me to develop skills that I may be lacking.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer guarantees that I will receive on the job training and time for study. This is a crucial element when you are completing an apprenticeship and it helps you to succeed. I also get regular reviews which help me to raise any hesitations in my learning and receive feedback on my progress so far.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider offers me a wide variety of support towards my qualification, they regularly make improvements to their resources and request feedback on how they could improve. The efficient reviews helps me to track my own progress and there is always access to tutors should I need help outside of my study days.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Overall I feel like the qualification is helping me to excel in my career and I am performing better than if I didn't have the understanding gained from my qualification. The knowledge, skills and behaviours that I have been learning about alongside my qualification studies have helped me to improve skills such as communication which are a huge factor when working in this industry.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am very lucky that my employer provides a multitude of extra-curricular activities that I can get involved with. They provide professional development activities, team building activities, wellness initiatives and often some networking opportunities. We also have periodic social activities that allows us to all get together outside of work and speak to people we may not necessarily work on projects with.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend DJH to a friend?
Yes
Why?
One of the main reasons I would recommend my employer to friends is the supportive network they provide and the volume of development opportunities. The team here have been nothing but supportive and positive which encourages each other to be the best version of themselves. My employer also offers me exciting challenges.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DJH?
I would tell people applying to DJH to be open minded to the magnitude of opportunities and research the company mindset. Be authentic and showcase your determination for a successful long-lasting career.
