Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
First week was an induction in London, following to weeks are placed in departments (you get to specify your preferred choices) in the office you apply for.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was great to spend two weeks inside the office working, this positioned us well to experience all the distinctive parts of DLA Piper discussed in the induction in practice such as the genuinely supportive culture, commitment to ESG and diversity

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Culture was exactly as described: supportive, collaborative, bold and exceptional.
Lots of law firms talk intensely about their 'excellent' culture but this is not true in practice. At DLA Piper this is certainly not the case.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I have intensely enjoyed the experience. Large names in the company made time to speak to us throughout. It was clear that interns matter to them, from hosting the induction in London to the numerous networking opportunities given to us. Both teams I was placed into have been incredibly supportive and have provided me engaging work throughout. I have not a quiet period but have also not been overworked.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DLA Piper
concentrate on producing a good answers to the application form questions and experience sections. In the assessment centre, try be relaxed and yourself as far as possible. Ensure you have a solid understanding of commercial awareness before and expect to provide explanations to your opinions.
