5/5
Civil Engineering Technician Apprentice (Highways and Transport Department)
Contract Delivery Team - Shadowing and working alongside engineers/technicians, assisting with the planning and design stages of major civils schemes in the borough
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The program has been eye-opening and informative. I've found all of the course material interesting so far, and have enjoyed learning about the techniques and practices applied in the construction and maintenance of buildings. Working in the Contract Delivery Team has given me insight into how a local authority works, and the relationships between different parts of the council as well as with contractors. I've also gained a lot of industry specific knowledge about highway construction and maintenance and have enjoyed working across the borough on various schemes.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I have ample time to study course material and prepare for my assessments while also being introduced to the various responsibilities of the team and department at a good pace.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have been provided plenty of support by my team with understanding my course material and also with learning the specifics of the industry. I have had reviews with both the council and the training provider where I was given opportunities to feed back about the program and discuss my progress with my mentor.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have weekly classes and have found the staff from T3 training to be responsive and helpful. I feel well prepared for my assessments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
An understanding of construction technology and commonplace industry practices are applicable daily in my role - without a thorough understanding there is no way to ensure a high standard of work and to progress within my role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
The Council offers lots of enrichment activities and events. During my Induction to the Council I was encouraged to network with fellow new starters.
