Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a daily basis I help prepare year end accounts for clients and their relevant tax computations. I also assist with the preparation of VAT Returns, Self-Assessment returns and Management Accounts. I am currently undertaking a large project under the MTD for SA legislation to move our self assessment clients who meet the threshold onto MTD compatible software.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have greatly enjoyed the apprenticeship and the learning opportunities I have had the chance to undertake. Both the knowledge base I have gained but also working with soft skills and ethical dilemmas. This has meant I am not only better suited for my job but also better rounded as an individual.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my soft skills greatly especially in terms of communication with external clients. I have undertaken a lot of training with software, and have had to relay this on to clients as part of our training program. I have also broadened my knowledge on VAT and tax laws.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is well structured and I am able to plan ahead for exams and my study support days. I am able to book college study days around my own schedule and this enables me to balance my work and study patterns equally. My work place is very helpful in terms of giving me time to manage my studies.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer provides me lots of support with a review coach internally placed to allow me to keep up to date with my studies and to have the support of an experienced coach to allow me to thrive as part of my apprenticeship. I also get extra leave for exam revision which can be extremely helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is very helpful in the way they respond to queries and keep a track of what is going on with my studies. They are helpful and schedule frequent review calls to ensure I am up to date with the work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There is the the increase in knowledge which is a massive help to my job role and allows me to perform my role better but there is also the soft skills that I have developed throughout my apprenticeship which has enabled me to better perform my duties.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have quarterly socials which are arranged by the company to help increase the team morale. We also do a monthly social as a team to encourage team work and to increase the positive attitude in the team.

I think it's a great place to work which offers great benefits to an individual. From study leave to study support the company are quick to offer any support or help that is needed for anyone who wants to pursue a career in accountancy

Make the most of the support and advice offered by different people in the learning and development department as they are a fabulous resource.
