Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I attend University 1 day per week, whilst the other 4 days are spent working in placement.
Through placements, I get involved in a broad portfolio of project and BAU activities, developing my knowledge, understanding and skill in Project Management practices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme greatly and have made numerous long-lasting connections along the way.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have become better equipped to multitask and manage extensive workloads.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is generally very well structured, however can be very subjective. University and placement activities are not deconflicted. E.g: If placement is busy and we are due to go to University, you must leave your work and return to it the next day (or week if a block).
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive as much support as I require from my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The specifications and criteria for exams held by UoC can often be very ambiguous and unclear. It is difficult to reach out for 1-1 support since the lecturers also deliver lectures for other BAE cohorts across the week.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I feel that I develop a more in-depth understanding of Project Management practices through spending time in my placement, however University can sometimes support; it is more useful for developing my understanding of the APM's theory ahead of University exams and my APM PMQ.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, lots. A significant proportion of these are organised by apprentices.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are a fantastic employer. There is never a silly question and the potential exposure/develop opportunities are endless.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
For this particular scheme, I would recommend that you have strong soft skills, especially conversationally. Moreover, I would also suggest that you are open-minded and willing to learn. Overall, there is no preliminary requirement from applicants; BAE will ensure that all of your development needs are met-just be yourself.
