- Reconciliations: Performing complex reconciliations (bank, intercompany, balance sheet accounts).
- Supervision: Reviewing the work of junior staff and providing guidance or training.

- Tax preparation: Including personal tax and corporation tax calculations and filings.
- VAT preparation: preparing and submitting quarterly VAT Returns.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship programme because it gives me the perfect mix of real-world experience and structured learning. Being able to apply what I learn in real time makes it click a lot faster, and I’m constantly picking up new skills from the team around me. I like that there’s always something new to work on – it keeps things interesting and challenges me to keep improving

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes during my time I have learned several new skills and taken on new tasks such as VAT preparation and client meeting.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Overall, the programme is quite well structured. There’s a clear timeline for what I am expected to learn and when, with regular check-ins and reviews to track my progress. The mix of on-the-job training and study time is balanced well, and I’ve always known who to go to if I have questions or need support. There’s definitely a plan in place, which helps me stay focused and motivated.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a good amount of support from my employer. My manager and team are always approachable and willing to help if I’m unsure about something. I also have regular check-ins with my line manager where I can talk about my progress, challenges, or anything I need extra help with. They’ve been really understanding about study time too, which makes a big difference
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I’ve received a good level of support from my training provider. The tutors are responsive and explain things clearly, and there are plenty of resources available – like recorded sessions, mock exams, and revision tools.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel like my qualification has definitely helped me perform better in my role. A lot of what I’m learning through at kaplan links directly to what I do day-to-day — things like financial reporting, tax advice and understanding the logic behind different processes. It’s helped me build confidence in my work and understand the ‘why’ behind the tasks I’m doing
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes we have quarterly social events that range from pottery classes to axe throwing and paint balling.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend DJH to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I’d recommend DJH because it’s a supportive and forward-thinking firm. From day one, I was encouraged to grow and take on responsibility, but at the same time there is always someone there to guide me. The team culture is friendly and approachable, and my team are really invested in my development, whether its through qualifications, mentoring, or hands-on experience. It’s a place where I can genuinely build a long-term career while feeling valued and supported. What stood out to me personally was how welcoming the team was when I joined. It made a huge difference to my confidence, especially early on. Plus, the variety of work means you’re constantly learning.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DJH?
Go for it and be yourself as DJH is a people-focused firm.
